Wedding Evening Schedule
These days, families and friends rarely get the opportunity to get together and we’ve found that guests will want to spend a portion of the evening, in the more relaxed environment after the ceremony and wedding banquet, chatting.. yakking.. chin wagging … and generally catching up with each other! As the Bride & Groom, the demands on your time and attention during the day will be considerable, but in the evening you too will be able to relax and catch up with your evening guests.
For this reason, we suggest that the dancing doesn’t start until your first dance together as husband and wife… normally just after the buffet. By this time, people have had chance to chat, and relax. There’s an old DJ saying .. “they don’t dance til they’ve dined” .. and it’s true – for some reason people love to dance after the buffet ! This also means you avoid that moment you’ve probably witnessed at weddings you’ve been to – where the dance floor is pretty full.. but then everything stops for the buffet !
So, here’s what a typical evening timeline looks like…
7.30pm – 8.30pm : Evening guests arrive and day guests return
8.30pm – 9.00pm : A mixture of carefully selected background music allows your guests to talk, without raising their voices, whilst enjoying a pleasant drink and soaking up the atmosphere – we carry intelligent/programmable lights and will cast an attractive wash (click pic below) across the dance floor (which can be precisely matched to your wedding colour scheme)![]()
9.00pm – 9.30pm : Buffet
9.30pm : Bride and Groom’s first dance.. another big moment in your day.. and the chance for everybody to grab a photo of the happy couple – again we make sure the lighting is romantic, atmospheric and camara friendly (put us in touch with your videographer/photographer and we’ll discuss their lighting requirements with them). After the first dance.. leave it to us to start the party and keep the dancefloor full for the rest of the evening !
12.00am (midnight) – 12.30am : Finish
Of course, we’ll work to whatever timings suit your event.. but over the last 20 years, this is the format we’ve found gives the most memorable evening.. with a full dancefloor and happy guests !
